( R & R ) ~ Retire in Residences

Just a logical suggestion, politics are not my cup of tea or coffee, thanks lor...

Actually you got an option, sell your flat after 5 years and move to another location with no rental flat near your vincity.

If I didn't have kids I wouldn't bother about who stays beside me. But when you have 2 young kids, you will want them to grow up in a safe enviroment. Eventually my kids will get older and wonder around the neighbourhood with their friends, thats when the worrying will intensify. But what to do, don't like also must live with it, all we can do is bitch about it on the forum.

Fwah!! What a clever suggestion, you should consider joining politics. Can think of smart solutions for all our country's problems.

Actually to pack up and run away doesn't sound like a logical suggestion to me leh... sounds more like what a coward would do.  Logical would be to stay and correct the situation

Is this rental housing issue a solvable issue? I dont think so. In any nation's demography, there are always income disparity. We should be fortunate that we do not fall into the category.

Imagine if today you 'happen' to belong to the lower income group and need a roof above your head, would you not reach out to the govt for assistance? Always look at 2 sides of a coin.

First pardon me if you feel offended by my view.

Rental flat is somethings singapore cannot avoid, but we can make it better place to stay or live in together with those in the rental flat be giving them a place they can be called home instead of just a place to provide shelter. One view is that we tend to think the resale value of the flat will drop as compare with other without the rental flat around them. Currently, my present parent's flat is just beside a rental flat but the resale value is still able to fetch very good price.

Secondly, we view those staying in the rental flat are those taking drugs, gangster kind or ex-jailbird or very old people and low income earner which cannot own a flat. Yes most of them are low income earners but I still if they can get good support from their neighbourhood, they may fuse into the neighbourhood well and will not felt being outcast and create problems.

In all as mention by GIM, we should not think they are there to create problems or will have bad influence on our kids. Instead we can treat it as more education to our kids too.

So everything have 2 sides of the coin, now we are enjoying the fruits of the country good economic progress but we too maybe ended up like them whom need to seek help from the government. Who know in the end.

In all let create a nice and friendly neighbourhood which everyone will be happy to stay and call it home.
